Start with the sale

If your buyer needs to browse products, choose variants, pay online, and receive order updates, Shopify or WooCommerce may be the right first move.

If your buyer needs to trust you, understand a service, and book a call, a custom service site may be faster and cleaner.

Do not buy complexity for ego

A full ecommerce system is useful when you have products ready, operations behind it, and a reason to reduce manual selling. It is dead weight if you have three products and no photos.

Start with the smallest site that supports the next sale. Upgrade when the business asks for it, not when a template marketplace whispers in your ear.

When to upgrade

Upgrade when DMs are causing order mistakes, customers ask the same product questions every day, or stock tracking has become a spreadsheet circus.

Until then, a clean website with clear products, contact path, and proof may be enough.
